Titan Hydroxyl Generator Equipment Used for Clean Air and removing Odors.

Whenever odors are present, germs are in the air, or you want to purify the air, the Titan Photocatalytic Hydroxyl Generator can help. Ultraviolet rays emitted from photocatalytic lamp pass through a catalyst and react with water and oxygen molecules in the air. This machine has a fan to ensure that air pollutants are continually drawn  These form hydroxyl radicals that decompose air pollutants into carbon dioxide and water. This machine comes with a Hydroxyl Maximizer to ensure the humidity levels are high enough for optimum performance.

The hydroxyl radicals never leave the machine so homeowners can safely be in the room while the Titan Photocatalytic Hydroxyl Generator is operating. SERVPRO technicians routinely use this machine when cleaning fire losses to make sure odors are removed.

Storage Boxes with Files and Documents

SERVPRO has the equipment to save documents from either Fire or Water Damages.

Most homeowners and business store documents in closets, attics or where there is storage availability in their home or office.  Fire and Water damages can destroy these very fast but SERVPRO has the means to restore most documents with a Vacuum freeze drying.

Vacuum freeze drying is the only method that is approved by NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) and the GSA (General Services Administration).

Process:

  • Inventory: All documents will be inventoried from the franchise office.
  • Packaging: Documents will then be packaged/boxed accordingly.
  • Cold Storage:  Documents will be frozen to prevent further damage.
  • Shipping:  Documents will be shipped to the SERVPRO corporate office for freeze dring.
  • Receipt:  Upon receipt of documents they will be placed either in cold storage until ready to be processed through the Vacuum Freeze Drying Chamber or processed immediately.

Portable Blast Cleaner For Hard Areas with Soot

7/20/2021 (Permalink)

Specialty Equipment that is used for removing Soot in hard places from a fire.

Fires produce a substance called soot that settles in every hard place of the damaged area caused by the fire.

The definition for Soot: It is a black, powdery substance produced when fire does not completely burn its fuel source.

After everything is settled you need to clean the soot from everything and everywhere, which can become very difficult.  SERVPRO has specialty Equipment that is used for these situations.  We have a Wet/Dry Abrasive Blast System that helps to remove the soot stuck in crevice's that simple wiping can't remove.  It has a high air force with a substance that is blown in and removes the soot.

We were able to use this on a house's joists throughout.  This process can make the cleaning go a bit faster and allow some of the structure to be kept instead of removed on the job.

Clean Gutters

7/8/2021 (Permalink)

We may be in the middle of Summer but Fall is our next season which brings us rain and leaves.  It's suggested that we clean our gutters twice a year Spring and Fall.  Sometimes we may forget to clean them in this seasons so Summer can also be a time to keep them clean.

Clogged gutters could create havoc during a winter storm which we had plenty of those this past year.  As the snow is melting not cleaning your gutters can lead to many different issues.  These could be, ice dams forming , damage to shingles, finally clogs and obstructions trap moisture in the corners or junctions of the roof causing leaks to penetrate in homes.

Clogged gutters are a great place for mosquitoes and other bugs to produce from trapped moisture left in the drain.

Gutter and downspout cleaning can help prevent unexpected and expensive projects down the road.  Taking preventive measures now can help minimize the likelihood of having to repair an inside water damage or replacing your roof.

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami is ready 24/7 for any Water Damage.  (918)766-0220

Slab Leaks

7/8/2021 (Permalink)

Cement filled in hole from slab leak repair.

Imagine walking on a floor and it is warm to the touch or repainting cabinets and the paint bubbles a couple of day later.  This happened to our home.  We help others with water damages.  Our home had a slab leak and this became home remodel to a home repair.

Water damages sometimes are not noticeable and can quietly and slowly happen right under your feet.  Homes have pipes under the home with a very small crawl space, pipes in the slab or pipes above in attics.  Be aware of your water bill or take notice of warm floors this could mean a leak is going on.

We had to remove part of our attached cabinets and a hole made in our slab to repair the pipe leak.  Luckily no flooring was removed.  Now putting things back is a very slow process.  Our kitchen will take a few months to repair due to availability of contractors and appliances ordered.

Don't think it can't happen to you because it happen to us.

How to Prevent Mold Growth

8/4/2020 (Permalink)

Mold Growing on Drywall can cause MOLD SPORES throughout the air quality

We breathe in mold spores and fragments every day, indoors and outdoors.  Usually these exposures do not present a health risk. However, people can be exposed to large amounts of mold, particularly indoors.

It is impossible to get rid of all mold spores indoors; some spores will be found floating through the air and in house dust.  However we can reduce the amount of spores in our homes by controlling mold growth.

  • Identify moisture problem areas in your home and correct  them
  • Dry wet areas immediately
  • Prevent moisture buildup with proper ventilation
  • Monitor humidity indoors
  • Direct rainwater away from your home
  • Clean and repair roof gutters

Remember if you clean up the mold but don't address the water or moisture problem, then most likely, the mold problem will come back.

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami offers indoor air quality sampling for mold. Call us today for an appointment at 918-766-0220.

How to Stay Safe in a Severe Storm

8/3/2020 (Permalink)

Driving by Adams Lake and seeing it Flood.

Weather can go from being Calm to Severe instantly for most of us.  Are You Ready?

Where you and your family shelter during a storm is a crucial factor in staying safe. Ideally your home already has at least one location to shelter at, so it's time to focus on safeguarding your family while it's in full force. The safest place to be is indoors but if you are outdoors during a severe storm, AVOID exterior walls and get to shelter as soon as it is safe to do so.

Other simple things you can do in a storm situation are:

  • Stay clear of windows, doors and openings such as fireplaces.
  • Take shelter in your designated room, a bathroom or basement is recommended and protect your head with a cushion or mattress.  If possible, crouch beneath heavy furniture.
  • Continue to tune in to local weather broadcasts for updates and advice.

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami professionals are committed to providing water cleanup and restoration services, as well as top-quality professional cleaning services for your entire home.

Keeping Our Kids Safe for A New School Year

8/3/2020 (Permalink)

Here are four things you can start doing now to set your students up for success, according to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and Mission Healthy Kids.

  • Create a regular sleep schedule.

In the weeks leading up to a new school year, try moving up your child's bedtime by just a couple minutes a day. Remember children ages 6 to 11 should get between 10 and 11 hours of sleep each night, while teens should get at least nine.  Make sure your kid's room is dark, quiet, and comfortable.  Try to avoid strenuous activity and screen time for at least an hour before bed.

  • Get your kid's nutrition on track.

Cut the cereal and breakfast bars. Swap them instead for nutritionally-dense foods like eggs, fresh fruit, nut butters, whole grain breads, yogurt, and milk.  Those foods will fuel your child's body and help them feel full longer.   Now is also the time to make a list of some healthy lunch and snack ideas.

  • Sit down with your child and plan.

Talk in advance about grades, homework, reading time, and after-school activities. Discuss some of the positives a new school year can bring, such as seeing old friends and making new ones.  Develop a general schedule, too. With younger kids, you can even walk through what their daily routing might look like.

  • Stay safe during COVID-19 Pandemic

During trying times like this worldwide pandemic, your child's safety should be the top priority.  Everyday remind your child to socially distance and wear the proper facial coverings to ensure their safety.  Also, have them bring hand sanitizer to wash their hands throughout the school day to keep them from infecting themselves and others.

The bottom line: Try to remember what life was like in their shoes.  A new school year can be scary and cause anxiety.  Let them know those feelings are okay.  Plus, making sure they're getting enough sleep, eating well, and planning now may help your whole family ease that stress.

Water Damages can Cause Mold Issues

7/21/2020 (Permalink)

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or HVAC systems. Mold spores can even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity level below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold issues.

Smoke Damage Cleanup

7/21/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami's extensive knowledge about Soot allows them to clean it expertly.

Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage and develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and Soot Facts

  • Hot smoke moves to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.

Different Types of Smoke

The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process. There are two different types of smoke – wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Bartlesvillle/Miami will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be determined based on the information identified during pretesting.

Here is some additional information on smoke and soot:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

  • Plastic and rubber fires produce sticky and smeary soot with very pungent odor. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

  • Paper and wood fires are fast burning and produce high temperatures. The heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue

  • Protein fire residues are virtually invisible and will discolors paint. Protein fires produce extremely pungent odor.

Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have 15 years of experience in restoring fire and smoke damaged properties.

Mold happens

Water leak causes mold on ceiling

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami is called often when water damage isn't taken care of in a timely manner. This home had a water leak from an upstairs bathroom.  When the leak became visible on the ceiling below the leak was repaired, but  by this time there was visible mold on the ceiling and it needed mold remediation.

SERVPRO Of Bartlesville/Miami is certified in Mold remediation.  They are also qualified to do an air quality testing for mold.

  • Mold often produces a string, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  •  Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity level below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold.

Emergency preparedness

Before a TORNADO is on its way you should be prepared.  Build an emergency kit and make a family communications plan. Purchase a NOAA weather radio. In any emergency, always listen to the instructions given by local emergency officials.

  • Be alert to changing weather conditions
  • Look for approaching storms
  • Look for the following danger signs:

               Dark, often greenish sky

               Large hail

               A large, dark. low-lying cloud

Loud roar, similar to a freight train

If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs be prepared and take shelter immediately.

  • In a public building go to the designated shelter area.
  • If there is no basement, go to the center of an interior room such as a bathroom or closet on the lowest level away from corners, windows, doors and outside walls.

if caught in the open, lie flat in a nearby ditch or depression and cover your head with your hands to protect yourself from flying debris. Flying debris from tornadoes causes the most fatalities and injuries.

Adams Lake Soccer Fields Under Water

Rain, Rain and more Rain!!!  Spring 2019 was a rainy time in Northeast Oklahoma and surrounding areas.  Water starting rising fast as the rivers started to fill.  Washington County Emergency management had to keep a steady flow with the dams at Copan and Hulah Lake.

Low areas in Bartlesville around Silver Lake Road and Adams Road caused our Soccer Fields to be under water for more than a month.  All we could do was wait for the water to recede before any clean up could start.

Roads to parts of NE Oklahoma were closed for many days, which made getting to any water damage difficult to impossible.

SERVPRO of Bartlesville/Miami strived to answer each emergency call.  To do this day, we continue to work on properties affected by the flood damage.
